Research shows nothing prepares kids more for going back to school than love and support. And, at Kellogg Company, we understand that every child is unique in how they express and receive love.
This back-to-school season, Kellogg'sRice Krispies Treats® is continuing its commitment to love and inclusivity by partnering with Autism Speaks - a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of people with autism and their families - to create sensory Love Notes, so children with autism can express and receive love in their own unique way during the school day. Last year, the brand took a stand for inclusivity by partnering with the National Federation of the Blind to create accessible Love Notes in the form of Braille stickers and re-recordable audio boxes.
This year's sensory Love Notes feature soft, smooth and bumpy textures - including silk, fleece, faux fur, satin and velour - that are designed for children with autism who may respond positively to tactile experiences.
As a mom of a teen with autism, this cause is very dear to me. I know firsthand that love and emotions aren't always easy for children on the spectrum to express and receive - but they need to feel it and share it as much as any other child.
The sensory Love Notes were inspired by children like S.J. Monville, a kindergarten student with autism. S.J. is relocating from a special needs school to a public school this year-a big transition for him during a season already filled with change. He will take on the new school year with love and support from his family, especially from his parents Kayla and Steele, and his grandparents.

At Kellogg, we approach work through a thoughtful lens by living our founder's values. We firmly believe in equity and inclusion in our workplace, marketplace and in the communities where we work and live. Our Business/Employee Resource Group Kapable - dedicated to ensuring Kellogg is a welcoming and inclusive environment for all employees- collaborated with Rice Krispies Treats to ensure the campaign would effectively reach the families of children with autism.
This is a beautiful way to extend our Rice Krispies Treats Love Notes and showcase the many ways to express love and support as kids return to school.
