Phillips 66 (PSX) on Monday night reported a tripped transformer that led to above-normal emissions at its Sweeny refinery near Houston.
"Unit 27.1 opacity was exceeded due to a transformer set tripping offline," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. "Operations personnel restarted the tripped transformer set."
The excessive emissions began Sunday and lasted more than an hour, the refinery said.
The 247,000 barrel-a-day Sweeny refinery is located in Old Ocean, southwest of Houston.
