           Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain
           Officers.

On April 23, 2020, Mr. R. Roderick Porter and Ms. Georgia S. Derrico, members of the Boards of Directors of each of Southern National Bancorp of Virginia, Inc. (the "Company") and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sonabank, notified the Company that, effective April 23, 2020, they are resigning as directors of each of the Company and Sonabank. The Company previously disclosed that Mr. Porter and Ms. Derrico would resign as directors of the Company and Sonabank effective as of the date of the Company's annual meeting of shareholders to be held on May 21, 2020.
