Seattle, Washington - December 20, 2018 -The Space Needle, renowned for producing one of the best structure-launched fireworks displays in the world, will host its 25th annual pyrotechnics spectacular - T-Mobile New Year's at the Needle - on Monday, December 31. The Seattle landmark is proud to continue its collaboration with hometown partner T-Mobile, America's Un-carrier, to present its most iconic New Year's celebration to date. For the first time ever, partygoers in the Space Needle will have the opportunity to watch fireworks launch beneath their feet on The Loupe-the world's first and only revolving glass floor. The fireworks display begins at 11:59 p.m. and will end with a dazzling finale at 12:09 a.m.

New for this year, the T-Mobile New Year's at the Needle festivities will include a 30-minute musically choreographed lighting show that will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31. Cutting edge lighting equipment installed throughout the structure will emit brilliant colors and beams of light across the tower and the Seattle night sky, creating a dramatically enhanced T-Mobile New Year's at the Needle experience. Lighting effects will also be incorporated into the sensational 10-minute fireworks display. The soundtrack for the 30-minute light show and the 10-minute fireworks display will be broadcast on KISS 106.1 FM.

The Space Needle's exclusive partner T-Mobile joins KING TV and iHeartRadio's 106.1 KISS FM for the landmark's most extravagant show to date. Additionally, the Space Needle will be illuminated in T-Mobile's distinctive magenta brand color on Dec. 30-31 as a precursor to the T-Mobile New Year's at the Needle celebration.

More than 20,000 people are expected to gather on the 74-acre Seattle Center campus to watch the T-Mobile New Year's at the Needle show. The entire Seattle Center campus will be one big party with thousands of free giveaways from T-Mobile as partygoers watch the amazing light show and pyrotechnic effects fired from more than 78 different locations on the iconic landmark. Pyro Spectaculars, global fireworks experts for over 100 years, will design and install fireworks and luminaire instruments from the bottom of the Space Needle to the top. An estimated 400,000 people will view the show from surrounding neighborhoods, along with another half-million tuning-in from home.

  • KING 5 Television will feature exclusive live broadcast coverage beginning at 11:35 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The 10-minute fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 31.
  • iHeartRadio's 106.1 KISS FM will broadcast the fireworks soundtrack from 11:59 p.m. to 12:09 a.m.
  • The T-Mobile New Year's at the Needle lighting show will run from 10:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. as KISS 106.1 FM broadcasts the soundtrack.

This year's music selection for the fireworks includes a list of influential female artists who have inspired and empowered people around the world. The soundtrack concludes with 'Respect' by the iconic and legendary Aretha Franklin.
