Qualcomm Inc. on Friday said Don Rosenberg, its general counsel and corporate secretary since 2007, plans to retire at the end of the year.

The San Diego chip maker said Ann Chaplin, who most recently served as corporate secretary and deputy general counsel for General Motors Co., will succeed Mr. Rosenberg as general counsel and corporate secretary, effective Nov. 1.

Qualcomm said Mr. Rosenberg will serve as special adviser for policy, regulation and strategic initiatives until his retirement.
