TOKYO--Toshiba Corp. said Friday that Chief Executive Officer Satoshi Tsunakawa would serve as interim chairman after the former chairman, Osamu Nagayama, was ousted by shareholders earlier in the day.

Toshiba said a newly elected director, George Olcott, resigned after reconsidering his role in light of Mr. Nagayama's ouster.

It said a director who was re-elected Friday, G. Raymond Zage III, would serve as head of the board's nomination committee and another re-elected director, Paul Brough, would serve as head of the board's strategic review committee.
