Karen Shaw

Dr. Karen Shaw is Senior Legal Counsel at Standard Life Investments, Inc. (Canada).
She provides advice on legal matters involving various aspects of Standard Life Investments Inc.’s business.
Dr. Shaw joined Standard Life Investments Inc. in July 2011.
Prior to that, she was a member of the Business Law Department at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt L.L.P and was involved in a broad range of activities generally representing private and public emerging growth & technology companies, venture capital firms and investment banks.
Dr. Shaw cross border practice included financing (private debt and equity placements), M&A, licensing, commercial law, governance, providing advice on the Québec Derivatives Act and assisting clients with various exemption applications as well as securities registration and distribution requirements.
Dr. Shaw holds the following degrees from McGill University: LL.B, B.C.L., Faculty of Law, Ph.D.
(Experimental Medicine), B.Sc.
(Honour Immunology).
In addition, she completed two post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard Medical School and the United States National Institute of Health.
