Dr. Ram Banin is an Advisor at Silicom Ventures LLC.
He is a serial entrepreneur and a corporate executive specializing in ‘Just In Time’ Software production.
He has extensive experience in rapidly defining, developing and bringing to market highly ‘sellable’ software products.
In recent years, Dr. Banin has been providing ‘hands on’ active management coaching, interim management, and business development support for both emerging and established software companies in the US and Israel.
He also serves as ntrepreneur-in-Residence at Global Catalyst Partners, an early stage venture capital fund.
In the early 1970s he was involved in the development and deployment of the Arpanet, which is regarded as the "Granddaddy" of today’s Internet.
In 1980 he co-founded Daisy Systems Corp., which heralded the new industry of Electronic Design Automation (EDA).
He served as Daisy’s Senior Vice president of Corporate Engineering and General Manager of the Systems Division (1980-1985).
In 1986 he co-founded Atherton Technology, serving as its CEO.
From 1989 until 1992 he operated Banin Associates, providing management and technology consulting to high-tech companies and venture capital firms.
Interim management engagements included Touch Communications, DAZIX Corp.
and ATI Corp.
In 1992 he joined TCSI as General Manager of its Telecom Division, eventually becoming its CEO in 1997.
Dr. Banin holds a PhD and MA in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as M.Sc.
in Nuclear Physics and BSc.
in Physics and Mathematics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.
