Home heating oil price at its lowest in over four years

Coleraine Borough Council is advising local residents to be aware of the considerable reduction in home heating oil prices. Boilerjuice.com statistics report that the price of home heating oil is now the lowest it has been in over four years, meaning that the buyer can get more oil for their money.

Local residents can avail of Coleraine Borough Council's Fuel Stamp Scheme, administered by St Vincent de Paul, to continue to save money for oil. Oil stamp savings cards and £5 oil stamps are available from local retailers across the Borough.

Coleraine Borough Council's Energy Efficiency Officer, Pearl Mahon commented, "Council's Fuel Stamp Scheme aims to help householders who use oil central heating to budget and save effectively by spreading the cost of their home heating fuel.

"One of many options to achieve savings for local residents is the Causeway Coast Vineyard's oil club in Harpur's Hill. This works by the members of the club combining their orders for home heating oil to use the collective purchasing power to get better deals from oil companies.

"This type of buying offers support for people struggling with fuel bills as the prices are lower due to the large quantity of the combined order. This also helps the environment by cutting down the number of journeys the oil company has to make to the same area.

"Another option, for those eligible, is The Warm Homes Scheme, which offers loft and cavity wall insulation for home owners and private renters. This can save on home heating costs by preventing heat from escaping outside therefore maintaining your household heat for longer."
