STRESA, Italy, May 24 (Reuters) - The G7 needs to present a common front against unfair Chinese trade practices, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Friday.

Le Maire was speaking to reporters ahead of a meeting of finance ministers and central bankers from the Group of Seven industrial democracies, in Stresa, northern Italy.

"We should definitely avoid any kind of trade war," Le Maire said, but added that the G7 had problems with China's industrial policies and needed to protect its interests, including developing new industries such as electric vehicles and clean energy.
