Senators Roberts and Moran, Top Market Analyst, Trade Expert and Dr. Flinchbagh

Two U.S. Senators, a top market analyst, export leaders and a leading policy expert will be highlighted at the Kansas Commodity Classic on January 26 at the Four Points by Sheraton Conference Center in Manhattan. U.S Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Pat Roberts will give an update on farm bill and other ag issues. U.S. Senator Jerry Moran will give a Washington update; FC Stone's Arlan Suderman will provide market perspectives, grain export leaders will talk about trade and K-State Professor Emeritus Barry Flinchbaugh will be the headline speaker at the Classic luncheon. The Kansas Commodity Classic is the annual convention of the Kansas wheat, corn and grain sorghum associations.

'We are excited to hear about policy that will affect our farmers from an all-star lineup of speakers that includes Dr. Flinchbaugh and Senators Roberts and Moran,' KCGA CEO Greg Krissek said. 'Farmers have a lot on the line with the farm bill, trade discussions and other issues. Farmers have the opportunity to hear from all these thought leaders in a rapid fire session from 9 a.m. through lunch.'

Arlan Suderman, from FCStone will give market perspectives, and growers will hear more about trade with panelists from US Grains Council and the National Association of Wheat Growers.

Trade continues to be a key issue for Kansas growers, and that theme will be woven throughout the event.

'Trade is such a key component for our ag markets. It is the one issue that will likely be visited in some way by each of our speaker because it is driven by policy and is a key component to the price we receive for our grains.'

The Kansas Commodity Classic is offered free to growers thanks to the generosity of its sponsors. Preregistration is requested to ensure an accurate meal count for lunch. For more information and to preregister online at the Kansas Wheat website or call 785.539.0255
