Jan 23 (Reuters) - The Spanish stock index Ibex-35 showed a slight rise on Tuesday and tried to regain the psychological level of 10,000 points, but lacked conviction in the absence of news to justify a greater appetite for risk.

The only references before the opening came from Asia, where the Bank of Japan stuck to its ultra-loose monetary policy, while the Chinese authorities are considering mobilizing funds to revive equities.

"Futures are undefined and, after 3 days in a row of NY (Wall Street) gains, the natural inertia would be to rest and take some profits. But there is a chance that corporate results will generate a good bottom and eventually bounce back a little more... even though, we insist, the stock markets should readjust a little (5%?) after the end-2023 rally," said Bankinter analysts in a daily report.

During the day there will be no major macroeconomic data and the focus in this area remains on the PMI surveys of the industrial sector (Wednesday), the IFO confidence indicator in Germany (Thursday), the US preliminary GDP for the fourth quarter (Thursday) and the US underlying private consumption deflator (PCE) for December (Friday), one of the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation indicators.

The market is also eagerly awaiting Thursday's European Central Bank (ECB) meeting, where clues about the future of interest rates in the eurozone could be forthcoming.

Against this backdrop and after rising more than 1% the day before, at 0805 GMT on Tuesday, the selective Spanish stock market index Ibex-35 was up 18.70 points, or 0.19%, to 9,986.80 points, while the FTSE Eurofirst 300 index of large European stocks advanced 0.22%.

In the banking sector, Santander lost 0.08%, BBVA fell 0.02%, Caixabank advanced 0.20%, Sabadell fell 0.04%, Bankinter dropped 0.10%, and Unicaja Banco rose 0.53%.

Among the large non-financial stocks, Telefónica gained 0.42%, Inditex advanced 0.20%, Iberdrola dropped 0.44%, Cellnex gained 2.11% and the oil company Repsol rose 1.16%.
