AB Amber Grid (NSEL:AMG1L) is planning to sell a 66% stake in the Baltic-Finnish natural gas exchange GET Baltic to a strategic partner to be selected through an international bidding process. "A strategic partner will attract global players to the gas market, which will benefit market participants and customers of the exchange, and increase competition in the gas market," Chief Executive Officer Nemunas Biknius said in a press release on January 28, 2022. The selection process will be open to companies with at least three years of experience in organizing gas trade in gas products in the EU and operating in a more advanced gas market.

The highest bidder will be offered to acquire 66% of shares in GET Baltic. The remaining 34% stake "would subsequently be sold as an option to the same investor, once it discharges the obligations under the sale-purchase agreement related to ensuring benefits for the regional market", according to the press release. Amber Grid currently owns 100% of shares in GET Baltic.
