ABL launches external training course: Rig moving MWS for jack up drilling units

We are proud to announce the launch of our new external technical training course "Rig moving MWS for Jack-Up Drilling Units". The course is designed to enhance the MWS standards and awareness among rig operators, barge engineers and offshore installation managers (OIMs).

The advanced, theory based, training covers a comprehensive range of topics including the risks during rig moves, legs jacking systems, MWS approvals & responsibilities, geotechnical investigations with an insight to SSA, preloading hazards, Rack Phase Difference (RPD) issues, towing vessels, towing gear, effective communications between rig and towing vessels, theory based scenarios of moving on / off different locations and emergency response scenarios.

As the course will be delivered globally, it will be conducted by Stephen Craig, alongside a regionally based team member to deliver both scope-specific and location-specific expertise. This ensures that the training is not only globally applicable but also tailored to pragmatically address region-specific requirements.

In recent months, ABL has successfully delivered this training to various clients across the Middle East, India and in some parts of the Asia Pacific, with additional sessions planned in the coming months. These sessions aim to support rig moving projects and expand into applications within the marine renewable energy industry.

In 2023 alone, ABL has been involved in over 1200 rig move operations as either Marine Warranty Surveyor, hands-on rig mover / tow master or client representative underscoring the company's extensive expertise and commitment to excellence in this critical industry sector.

Hands on Tow Master practical bespoke training course can also be developed for individual client's. Further information can be provided upon request.
