SEATTLE (AP) _ Adaptive Biotechnologies Corp. (ADPT) on Tuesday reported a loss of $31.4 million in its first quarter.

The Seattle-based company said it had a loss of 25 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 22 cents per share.

The life-sciences research company posted revenue of $20.9 million in the period, also missing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $21.6 million.

Adaptive Biotechnologies shares have risen 28% since the beginning of the year.
