PITTSBURGH (AP) — PITTSBURGH (AP) — American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (AEO) on Thursday reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $6.3 million.

On a per-share basis, the Pittsburgh-based company said it had net income of 3 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 61 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 50 cents per share.

The teen clothing retailer posted revenue of $1.68 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.66 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $170 million, or 86 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $5.26 billion.

American Eagle shares have climbed 11% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 73% in the last 12 months.
