Fruit processing company Zentis has designed a new range of jars for its NaturRein brand of jams and fruit spreads, in response to consumer demand for sustainable and reusable glass packaging. The new jars are designed with rounded edges to fit snugly in the hand, and now feature a sustainable new cork lid that fits over the vaccuum closure. The aim of the sleek new design is to create multiple opportunities for reuse, such as turning the jars into vases, spice jars or gift packaging and repurposing the cork lids as coasters.

The design was created by Dragon Rouge and Anke Lambrecht Product Design, while Zentis and Ardagh were responsible for technical input and final container profiles.

Marc Irmer, Sales Manager, Ardagh Glass Packaging, comments on the new design: 'We're incredibly proud of this attractive and tactile new jam jar with its sleek profile and thick glass base, which presents all kinds of opportunities for reuse before it's ultimately recycled.'

The new NaturRein jar range is an important component of the Zentis sustainability strategy, which is working towards the company's Aachen location being completely climate-neutral. Vice President Commercial B2C Oliver Böcker says 'The NaturRein range is already climate-neutral. The CO2 emissions along the entire NaturRein value chain, for example, are fully compensated by investing in a forest conservation project in Peru.'

The new design enhances the visual identity of the new core brand. NaturRein 'Klassik' is available in 250g jars and the NaturRein '75% Frucht' range is available in 200g jars.
