Asia Pacific Breweries Wins ACCA Singapore Sustainability Reporting Awards 2013

Asia Pacific Breweries Limited (APB) was awarded the top accolade at the ACCA Singapore's Sustainability Reporting Awards 2013 held today at the Raffles Hotel. The Guest-of-Honour was Mr Choi Shing Kwok, Permanent-Secretary, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.

The Awards, which aims to encourage corporate transparency in Singapore through sustainability reporting, gives recognition to Singapore-based companies for achieving excellence in environmental, social and sustainability reporting.

Mr Roland Pirmez, Chief Executive Officer of APB, said: "We are proud to receive the 'Best Sustainability Report' Award and to be seen leading the way on sustainability reporting in Singapore. Our sustainability disclosure includes the consolidated performance of our operations in 14 countries. The annual reporting exercise ensures that we give priority to understanding our material issues and impact on societies where we have operation in an inclusive manner by engaging stakeholders continually."

According to the judges' report, APB's 2012 sustainability report, "More Than Meets The Eye", stood out for its overall presentation, comprehensiveness and readability and was commended for demonstrating clearly the relationship between sustainability, business operations and financial performance.

The winning report, which was developed at Global Reporting Initiative application level B+, was assured by Ernst & Young LLP in Singapore and is the company's second public disclosure on sustainability.

Mr Pirmez added, "Moving forward, I foresee building on HEINEKEN's focused approach and systems to manage sustainable development while delivering on our promise to disclose our progress in an annual sustainability report. HEINEKEN's 10-year sustainability programme, 'Brewing a Better Future', will be our impetus to be an even greener and more responsible company."
