GPs from two Beaconsfield practices used a quick break from the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination programme and wider care this week to visit the site of their new medical centre build - as preparation work continues.

The spacious new building is set to become home to both the Millbarn and Simpson GP practices next year, with 30 consultation and treatment rooms as well as modern, pleasant space for patients, health education facilities, an adjacent pharmacy and meeting rooms for staff.

Dr Steve Brown (senior partner at Millbarn) and Dr Moona Rakhit (lead partner at Simpson) made a short visit to site to see the initial works in action with contractor Ashe Construction.

Dr Rakhit, Managing Partner of the Simpson Centre, said: 'We are all keenly awaiting our move to the new premises so we can further improve patient journeys and expand their experience, collaborating with other agencies like volunteer groups and other support agencies to provide more holistic care.'

The scheme is led by developer Apollo Capital Projects Development Ltd. and funded by us as the building's long-term property partner.

Richard Drew from Apollo said: 'We're delighted to be involved with this very exciting and much-needed project for the town, which after five years is now getting underway. The continued support from both Buckinghamshire CCG and NHSE has been important, as has the assistance and vision from both practices throughout.'

Our Senior Development Manager, Jon Webb, added: 'At a time when the role of fit-for-purpose infrastructure for local care is under the spotlight, it's fantastic to see works well and truly underway to create this important new facility which will add capacity for the NHS in Beaconsfield into the future.'
