• New this year, it includes videos with testimonies from employees, customers, shareholders and beneficiaries of Santander grants telling of their experience and showing how the Bank is helping people and businesses prosper every day.

Madrid, 17 March de 2016 For the past seven years, in addition to the hard copy and pdf formats of its annual report, Santander has been providing an online, browsable version too, affording an interactive and pleasant way to discover the Group strategy and financial results. On this occasion, the online report centres on initiatives started up over the past year to support cultural and commercial transformation, to strengthen corporate governance and capital, and highlight how the Bank is meeting all of its targets, helping people and businesses prosper in a simple, personal and fair way. It is accessible from any device, whether a mobile, tablet or computer.

New this year, a section has been included on Prosper stories, a space with videos where several characters (employees, customers, shareholders and beneficiaries of Group grants) tell their story in first person and explain how they have felt supported by the Bank. Real experiences, such as those involving Jigar Thakkar (employee), Javier Lapeña and Eugenio Navarrete (customers), Josep Rosàs (shareholder), and Miguel Ruiz and Emily Brooke (beneficiaries of the Bank's grants), show how the Bank is helping people and businesses prosper every day.

The new section Banco Santander Highlights 2015 explains -using a timeline with images, copy and videos- the main events at the Bank during the year.

Besides the new items, this is the main content of the Online Report 2015:

  • The foundations of our transformation, with a few words from the Group executive chairman, Ana Botín, and an explanation of the initiatives performed to support cultural and commercial transformation, and also strengthen corporate governance and capital.
  • Message from Ana Botín, executive chairman, where she spells out the 2015 results and the Bank's strategy for coming years: 'In 2015, we complied with everything we promised a year ago and we did it by doing things well. All of this means we are better off than expected in our strategic plan'.
  • Message from José Antonio Álvarez, chief executive officer, giving details of results by country and perspectives and targets for 2016: 'We will continue to focus on improving customer satisfaction in all Group units, on making progress with the digital transformation process and on increasing customer loyalty'.
  • Santander in 2015. A section that shows the main Bank data at a glance: from attributable profit and the markets in which it operates, through the geographical diversification map, to the number of employees, customers, shareholders and people helped.
  • Purpose and business model. It contains the Group purpose, which is common to all countries and businesses (helping people and businesses prosper) and the six cornerstones of the Group's business model, supported by information, graphics and highlighted data.
