BlackRock Inc. took a minority stake in Clarity AI, an environmental, social and governance data provider, and will add the company's services to BlackRock's platform for investment professionals.

Clarity's forward-looking artificial-intelligence data, covering more than 30,000 companies across nearly 200 countries, will become available on BlackRock's Aladdin professional service, BlackRock said on Thursday. Last year, Aladdin added 1,200 sustainability metrics and established ESG data partnerships.

Financial details of the deal weren't disclosed.

BlackRock said it joined other Clarity investors Deutsche Boerse AG, Kibo Ventures, Mundi Ventures, Seaya Ventures and Founders Fund.
