On Wednesday, BMW reported a 1.1% increase in worldwide sales to 594,671 units in the first quarter, a rise that the German automotive group attributes in particular to strong demand for its electric vehicles.

Sales of the BMW brand alone rose by 2.5% to 531,039 units in the first three months of the year.039 units in the first three months of the year, helped by a 40.6% jump to 78,691 in deliveries of electric models.

Citing the success of the BMW i4, iX3, iX1, iX and i7, the group says it has now sold over a million electric vehicles since its market launch.

Beyond electric vehicles, BMW reports solid growth in the ultra-high-end segment (+21.6%), thanks in part to the popularity of its BMW 7 Series range.

For 2024, the automaker says it intends to continue its steady rise in electro-mobility with a planned strengthening of its offering, despite an automotive market described as 'volatile'.

Listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, BMW shares were little changed (-0.1%) on Wednesday morning following the release of these figures.
