Boeing has announced that Avolon, an aircraft leasing company based in Ireland, intends to purchase an additional 40 737-8 aircraft to bring its total 737 MAX fleet to over 110.

As a reminder, Avolon had already ordered 40 737-8 units in June.

The new order remains, however, subject to the approval of Bohai Leasing, Avolon's main shareholder.

'Today's order reflects our continued optimism about the prospects for the aviation sector, and strengthens our ability to meet customer needs in delivery slots up to 2030', said Andy Cronin, Avolon's Managing Director.
