Wilson Aerospace, an American aerospace company, is suing , the largest aerospace company on Earth, for a host of claims, calling the company "beyond despicable." Boeing bites off, calling the lawsuit "rife with inaccuracies."

In the news: Wilson Aerospace claims in a federal lawsuit, which could be viewed by , that Boeing is stealing and misusing intellectual property on a large scale.

  • Boeing, according to Wilson Aerospace, is allegedly responsible for the delays suffered by (SLS), NASA's lunar rocket that first launched late last year.
    • Between 2014 and 2016, Wilson Aerospace had a contract with Boeing to design tools to be used to attach the SLS's engines.
    • But after the company provided the designs for those tools, Boeing cancelled the contract. Thereafter, the company allegedly produced counterfeit versions that were "critically deficient in quality and performance."
    • That would have led to "dangerous" leaks that delayed the launch of the SLS.

"Theft"

Also note: Wilson Aerospace claims that Boeing also stole designs for tools used aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

  • The repercussions would be significant. According to Wilson Aerospace, Boeing negligently caused leaks on the ISS and endangered the lives of astronauts.
  • The leaks allegedly resulted from a component designed by Wilson Aerospace but modified by Boeing. Subsequently, Boeing allegedly blamed Wilson for the leaks.
  • David Wilson, founder of Wilson Aerospace, said according to Sky News that "Boeing not only stole our intellectual property and damaged our company's reputation, but misused the technology at the expense of astronaut safety, which is beyond despicable."
  • Boeing itself responded in the media by saying that "this lawsuit is fraught with inaccuracies and omissions" and that it will defend itself "vigorously" in court.
