BT Group announced this morning that it has agreed to sell the BT Tower in central London for £275 million to MCR Hotels, which plans to preserve it as an iconic hotel.

The BT Tower has long been an important site for BT Group's Media & Broadcast business, as one of the world's main exchange points for live television.

It has played a key role in the transmission of TV calls and signals, but we are increasingly delivering content and communication via other means. This agreement with MCR will enable BT Tower to take on a new vocation, preserving this iconic building for decades to come," explained Brent Mathews, BT Group's Director of Real Estate.
