We hope you're enjoying the U.S. Open. Here's a quick look at our biggest stories so far at Winged Foot:

Xander Schauffele Is In The Mix

Callaway staffer Xander Schauffele is in contention this week. Here's a look at some of the key clubs in his bag.

His Driver

Xander is using his trusted MAVRIK Sub Zero Driver, which has been in his bag since the 2019 Presidents Cup. His driver features our A.I. designed Flash Face SS20 that's engineered to promote fast ball speeds across a more expansive area in each model and loft. It also delivers a great combination of low spin & high MOI, and features two interchangeable weights to fine tune trajectory. He's using a Graphite Design Tour AD BB 7X Shaft.

This week, Callaway Tour Reps added half a degree of loft in Xander's driver to promote higher launch off the tee. They made this adjustment to help Schauffele hit more fairways on the tight, fast Winged Foot layout, where it's easy for drives to run out through the fairway.

His Irons

Xander continues to use his Apex Pro 19 Irons (4-PW), which have been in the bag for his victories at the WGC-HSBC Champions and the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Apex Pro 19 is a forged Tour performance iron that provides extremely soft feel from a 1025 mild carbon body and our proprietary urethane microspheres.

Our 360 Face Cup employs a shallow, flexible rim around the perimeter of the face that flexes and releases at impact to promote fast ball speed for consistent distance on center hits and off-center hits. In the short irons, the spin control VFT Face is designed for pinpoint shot-making in the scoring clubs.

The multi-material construction allows us to infuse on average 50 grams of Tungsten into each iron, so we can locate the CG in each iron with extraordinary precision while maintaining the flexibility of the Face Cup. This tungsten promotes optimal shot-making, ball flight, and control for scoring performance through the set. And Apex Pro 19 offers a classic look that the best players want to see with a straighter leading edge, higher toe, thin top line, and a smooth hosel transition.

His Golf Ball

Schauffele has been playing a 2020 Chrome Soft X Ball and during the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January, he said, 'I'm using a new golf ball, Callaway's new Chrome Soft. (I'm) not even trying to solicit it, it's just (that) I feel more comfortable with it.' He's also said, 'The performance is unbelievable. The distance and performance are exactly what I want.' Our 2020 Chrome Soft X continues to be the #1 Callaway Ball on Tour.

Odyssey Wins U.S. Open Putter Count

Odyssey won the putter count convincingly at Winged Foot, adding to its incredible run in majors. Odyssey has now won the putter count at every major this year across the PGA, LPGA and Champions Tours (after sweeping the count at every major in 2019). We continue to be the #1 Putter Brand on EVERY major Tour in 2020.

Van Rooyen Puts In 7-Wood

Callaway staffer Erik Van Rooyen put in a MAVRIK 7-wood for Winged Foot. It provides a versatile option that he can use out of the rough, on long approach shots into the green and for tee shots on the longer Par-3s. Van Rooyen shot an opening round 70 to put himself in contention.

ICYMI: Callaway U.S. Open Staff Bag
