CAMPOSOL : delivers its firts avocado container to Japan

CAMPOSOL proudly announces the delivery of its first Hass avocado container to Japan. This means a great challenge for the company, which, after several months, sees the results of its hard work, effort and dedication when this important achievement for a very demanding market was concretized.

After satisfactorily overcoming the inspections requested by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF - Japanese Health Inspection) and the corresponding bodies, CAMPOSOL made the delivery of its first avocado container to Japan the last Friday, June 17.

The opportunities these deliveries will represent open CAMPOSOL's expectations for incurring in this market with great potential, aside from reinforcing its commercial strategy in Asia.

Allan Cooper, CAMPOSOL's Avocado Business Unit Manager, said that Japan is a country with great potential that knows and consumes between 50 and 60 thousand tons of avocado annually: 'We will gain market space in Japan year by year. This is an introductory year, but we believe that we will see, during the following years, that our avocado exports to Asia will greatly grow and Japan will definitely become a relevant country due to the consumption it has already developed,' he expressed.

Through a commercial agreement with one of the main avocado importers in Japan, an initial sales campaign in supermarkets has been suggested. The first year will be an organized work, which will try to introduce CAMPOSOL's Peruvian avocado to Japan.

'We will gain market space and consumer preference. We want to position avocado as one of the main referents of Peruvian fruits worldwide,' Cooper commented.

- CAMPOSOL has 2,620 ha of Hass avocado varieties and provides job opportunities to more than 1,500 people during its high season.

- The total avocado crop surface in Peru is estimated in more than 22,000 hectares, 11 percent of which is provided by CAMPOSOL.

- In 2015, Peru exported almost 5,100 thousand tons of green avocado and 161,534 tons of Hass avocado.

- We estimate to export 5,000 tons of Hass avocado to China and Japan for 2016.
