Canadian National Railway Co. expects its 2023 per-share earnings growth to be in the low single-digit range, citing a softer economic outlook.

The freight railroad reported Tuesday that its full-year 2022 per-share earnings increased 8% from the year prior to C$7.44. Adjusted per-share earnings for the year increased 24% to C$7.46.

Despite expectations for a softer economy, Chief Executive Tracy Robinson said the company expects its disciplined operating model and back-to-basics strategy will continue to deliver in 2023.
