Feb. 5, 2014, Twinsburg, Ohio - Edgepark Medical Supplies, the leading direct-to-consumer medical supply provider and home health business of Cardinal Health, today announced its support for the inaugural VeloSano cycling event to help fund cancer research at Cleveland Clinic by committing a team of riders and large-scale volunteer staffing effort.

Edgepark plans to form a cycling team comprising 50 riders, who together are committed to raising money to fund cancer research at the Cleveland Clinic. Additionally, Edgepark has also pledged to contribute more than 150 volunteers to support both the opening day ceremonies and race-day events.

"Cleveland Clinic has been at the forefront of cancer breakthroughs since its inception, and we're proud to collaborate on this effort to raise funds that will further their work on a health concern that affects so many in our own community and across the country," said Michael B. Petras Jr., president of the home health business of Cardinal Health.

VeloSano, derived from Latin words meaning "swift" and "cure," is modeled after Pelotonia and the Pan-Mass Challenge, two highly successful cycling events that have raised millions of dollars for cancer research. VeloSano is a one- or two-day cycling experience scheduled for July 19 and 20. One hundred percent of the funds raised by VeloSano and its riders will benefit cancer research at Cleveland Clinic.

"Edgepark has stepped to the head of its class with this innovative commitment. Their early and strong support of VeloSano will help ensure a highly successful and engaging event that achieves our ambitious first year goals," said Stewart Kohl, co-chief executive officer of The Riverside Companies and event chairman of VeloSano.
