TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) _ Carvana Co. (CVNA) on Thursday reported a loss of $283 million in its third quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Tempe, Arizona-based company said it had a loss of $2.67.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $2.02 per share.

The company posted revenue of $3.39 billion in the period, also falling short of Street forecasts. Ten analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.64 billion.
