CLP launched the 'Knitting for the Community' campaign in Mainland China in 2022 by mobilising a total of 648 volunteers from Hong Kong and Mainland China to dedicate about 3,500 hours to knit over 1,000 handmade clothing items and accessoriessuch asscarves, hats, sweaters, shoes and embroidery insoles.

These items were delivered to the elderly and children on the Mainland to keep them warm in the chilling winter. CLP has investments across 16 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in Mainland China. Teaming up its Hong Kong and Mainland offices for the first time, CLP invited staff, their family members and the local community in the vicinity of its assets to participate in the knitting campaign. Volunteers made good use of their handicraft techniques and creativity to make an array of clothing items and accessories.

They also sent their blessings through the greeting cards attached to each knit item. Managing Director - China of CLP Holdings Mr Joseph Law said, 'Caring for the community has always been one of CLP's core values. Over the years, we have been committed to supporting our neighbouring communities where we operate to promote environmental protection, education, culture preservation and infrastructure development. In addition, our colleagues have been actively participating in volunteer activities during their leisure time and organising a wide array of community initiatives.' Mr Law added that knitting is a traditional craft and every single stitch demonstrates the love of volunteers. The campaign also signifies CLP's ongoing commitment to building a harmonious and caring community, in addition to contributing to the economic development in Mainland China.
