Cofix reported that its subsidiary Urban Cofix has established a sub-chain called Cofix Be'Ir (Cofix in the City) for haredi ultra-Orthodox customers. Cofix offers all its products for ILS 5 including coffee and sandwiches and has 148 branches throughout Israel with 13 more set to open. The new outlets for the ultra-Orthodox will have Badatz kosher certification from the Jerusalem haredi community and operate on a take away basis with no seating in the cafes. The menu in the new chain will be identical to those in the existing cafes. In the first stage, six existing Cofix branches in Bnei Brak will be converted into Cofix Be'Ir outlets. Cofix plans to expand the network by converting 20 cafes in Jerusalem and other cities and setting up new branches in areas with large concentrations of ultra-Orthodox Jews.
