(Alliance News) - Crimson Tide PLC on Wednesday said it has won a contract with the catering provider at the University of North Carolina Health department.

The Kent-based software developer said the client will use its mpro5 mobile app, reporting and dashboards to ensure the "timely delivery of meals at the appropriate temperature to students".

The firm said the contract is worth GBP72,000, but that this figure is set to grow following initial delivery.

It added that it will initially roll-out the product on one of the medical campuses, with mpro5 to be sued to monitor and automate the dietary requirements of patients, and regulate medicinal dosages using carb-counting.

Crimson Tide expects that 240,000 meals will be delivered during the initial three-year contract.

Chair Barrie Whipp said: "This contract win extends our reach into the US, further emphasises our strength in the contract catering sector, and, most importantly, helps our client deliver safe and healthy meals to its most in-need patients. We look forward to exploring how we can further help US education providers meet the compliance, auditing and verification challenges of catering in a student environment."

Crimson Tide shares fell 5.1% to 2.23 pence each on Wednesday afternoon in London.
