Cypark Resources Berhad appointed Dato' Mohammad Zainal Bin Shaari, age 60, as Non Executive Independent Director, Date of change is 18 January 2024. Professional Qualification: Fellow in Accountancy from Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW); Fellow in Accountancy from Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); Member in Accountancy from Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA); member in Accountancy from Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA); Affiliate of Corporate Governance from Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA). Dato' Mohammad Zainal Bin Shaari is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales as well as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

He started his career in Malaysia in 1990 with PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly Price Waterhouse) and was made a partner of Price Waterhouse on 1 July 1997. He joined Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah) on 1 June 2004 and his last position there was as Chief Operating Officer. Whilst in Khazanah, he oversaw operations, internal management, and held strategic roles in investment management & monitoring.

His purview included the Risk Management Unit, Strategic Human Capital Management Division and Corporate Support & Services Division (comprising Legal, Secretarial, Support Operations, and ICT). He also served as the Company Secretary of the Board of Khazanah. After Khazanah Nasional, he joined the private sector on 1 June 2014 where he assumed the role of Group Managing Director at Tradewinds (M) Berhad (TWM), then the holding company of Padiberas Nasional, Central Sugars Refinery, Tradewinds Plantation and Mardec.

His position was extended to cover broader duties & responsibilities when he was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Tradewinds Group Malaysia, the holding company of TWM, on 1 June 2021 until his retirement on 31 May 2023. Dato' Zainal was a director of various public and private companies and also served in the respective board committees. In 2006, he was appointed by the MOF to be a member of the Financial Reporting Foundation.

Dato' Zainal's experience encompasses audit, financial reporting, corporate governance, due diligence, corporate strategy, human capital, financial investigations, investment management & monitoring, corporate finance, and M&A activities. His industry experience encompasses electricity, automotive, oil & gas, food, plantations and leisure & hospitality.
