DeGem Berhad announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2017. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of MYR 43,810,000 against MYR 46,926,000 a year ago. Profit before tax was MYR 3,600,000 against MYR 3,531,000 a year ago. Loss for the period attributable to owners of the company was MYR 846,000 or 0.65 sen per basic share against profit of MYR 2,384,000 or 1.82 sen per basic share a year ago. The decrease in revenue of 7% was mainly contributed from decrease in sales volume from the retail segment. The improvement in PBT mainly due to lower operating expenses from retail segment and higher foreign exchange gain. For the nine months, the company reported revenue of MYR 139,156,000 against MYR 129,441,000 a year ago. Profit before tax was MYR 12,015,000 against MYR 9,163,000 a year ago. Profit for the period attributable to owners of the company was MYR 6,626,000 or 5.06 sen per basic share against MYR 6,390,000 or 4.88 sen per basic share a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was MYR 8,893,000 against net cash generated from operating activities of MYR 6,765,000 a year ago. Acquisition of property, plant & equipment was MYR 3,184,000 against MYR 3,097,000 a year ago. The increase in both revenue and PBT of 7.6% and 30.4% were attributed to higher revenue achieved from retail segment and higher foreign exchange gain.
