Delta Thailand's New Plant in Chachoengsao Receives LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council

Chachoengsao, Thailand, November 11, 2021- The Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL. new Plant 7 in Wellgrow Industrial Estate, Chachoengsao has received the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification in the New Construction category.

Delta's new plant is certified in all seven categories of LEED including Sustainable Sites, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, Water Efficiency, Innovation in design and Regional Priority Credit.

The Delta Energy Management team leveraged rich experience in industrial energy management to implement an original energy efficiency solution which optimizes energy performance and exceeds baseline energy performance by 28%. This solution includes:
• Energy efficient HVAC system with Delta Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and high-efficiency motors to boost efficiency. The HVAC system has zero use of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)-based refrigerant to reduce ozone depletion.
• Natural light building design with energy-saving LED lighting and sensor-activated switches.
• Building automation with flow meters and power meters for intelligent monitoring and energy-saving strategy management.

Delta's new green building has a 45% reduction in water use through measures that include a Rainwater Harvesting System and wastewater treatment to collect and reuse water for bathrooms and gardening. Toilets have 100% water-saving sanitary ware and use recycled water for flushing.

Green areas make up 30% of the property's total open space. Company vans and shuttle buses transport 85% of employees and bicycle parking is available for up to 5% of all building occupants to reduce pollution and environmental impact from automobiles.

Improved ventilation enhances the building's indoor environment by maintaining a 30% fresh air rate in occupied areas for the comfort and well-being of occupants. Large windows provide clear views of surrounding green areas and reduce electrical lighting use. All indoor areas are non-smoking and outdoor smoking areas are well-defined to protect all from secondhand smoke exposure.

In 2017, Delta Thailand became the first company in Thailand to receive the LEED Gold certification in the EBOM (Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance) category for its head office and plant in Bangpoo Industrial Estate, Samutprakarn.

The EBOM category is for green building conversion of existing buildings with over 20 years. The latest LEED Gold certification for Delta's new Plant 7 recognizes excellence in the green building design and implementation of a new green building.

LEED is one of the most globally recognized green building certification programs developed by the non-profit U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The certification provides independent verification of a building or neighborhood's green features, allowing for the design, construction, operations and maintenance of resource-efficient, high-performing, healthy and cost-effective buildings.

As a global ESG leader and green building advocate, Delta Electronics has a total of 29 green buildings and two green data centers around the world. In Thailand, Delta will continue to implement a solar rooftop solution at its latest Gold-certified Plant 7 as part of its relentless sustainable development effort guided by the company's mission: "To provide innovative, clean and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow."
