MUNICH (dpa-AFX) - Ice field hockey fans will be able to watch the international games of the German national team, including the Deutschland Cup, on the online channel MagentaSport until 2028. The contract with the German Ice Hockey Association (DEB), which runs until 2024, has been extended ahead of schedule, Deutsche Telekom announced on Thursday. Accordingly, the channel will also broadcast the tournaments of the women's national team, the U18 team and the U20 team in the future.

On April 13, the German men's national team will begin its series of test matches with new national coach Harold Kreis in preparation for the World Cup in Latvia and Finland in May. During the World Cup from May 12 to 28 in Riga and Tampere, MagentaSport will show all German games and the knockout rounds. It is also currently showing the playoff games of the German Ice Hockey League.

The World Cup rights are currently still held by the special-interest channel Sport1. In 2022, MagentaSport also broadcast 15 World Cup games thanks to a sublicense. From 2024, the ice hockey world championship will be broadcast on Sportdeutschland.TV./puk/DP/stw
