EDP-Energias de Portugal SA's installed capacity at the end of December was higher than the previous year and electricity generation rose in 2022.

The Portuguese energy company said late on Thursday that it had an installed capacity of 28 gigawatts at the end of December, compared with 26.42 GW the previous year.

Electricity generated in the year rose to 61.35 terawatt-hours from 59.78 TWh the previous year driven by higher renewables globally and an increase in thermal generation. In the fourth quarter, the company generated 16.42 TWh.

EDP said the total electricity distributed in the Iberian peninsula in 2022 was flat on year due to a warmer winter, while it rose 2% in Brazil.
