6.May 2022 : An important new fieldtest of Elop's Insight Crawler have been conducted together with the leading multinational integrated construction and real estate companyImplenia GmbH . The tests done together withImplenia marks an important milestone in the development of Elop's crawler solution - confirming the technology and its market potential. According to the testing partners the crawler solution have a significant potential as its much quicker, it improves safety, and reduce costs associated with inspections compared to other currently available technology in the market. The Insight crawler from ELOP will be an efficient and safe tool that can climb vertically on concrete infrastructure such as buildings, cooling towers and bridges to inspect and check the inside of the structure to detect voids, airpockets, cracks etc. to confirm the state of the structure. This is the second successful milestone test of the crawler solution after the first test done with the federal Autobahn companyAutobahn GmbH inGermany earlier this year. "These tests make us confident that there is a great market potential for our solution and confirm the need for it in the market, we are on track with the development and on schedule as planned to commercialize the crawler", saysMarcus Jocham , Head of Business development in ELOP Technology. The German market is very interesting for such technology, and its highly needed, according to Jocham. "The German autobahns and highways inGermany have around 40,000 bridges. According to theFederal Highway Research Institute (BASt), almost 4,800 are in a critical or unsatisfactory condition. A robotic scanner like the InsightCrawler can greatly improve the inspection authority's inspection capabilities, making inspections a lot more effective," explains Jocham. Today German Motorway bridges are inspected every six months by means of a "hands-on inspection" by visual inspection and by tapping them with a special hammer, but it only provides for a superficial test. With a solution like the InsightCrawler the German Autobahn company now can see inside the bridges. "Currently we are four men responsible for inspecting and control 700 bridges. That's almost impossible. We hope that we could relieve our staff with such innovations." Said Bernhard Möhrle, head of the bridges and civil engineering department at Autobahn GmbH Südbayern, about ELOP' Crawler solution to Der Spiegel 10.March 2022 .
