Energy Developments Limited (ASX: ENE or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has approved the financial commitment to an 18 MW expansion of the Moranbah North waste coal mine gas (WCMG) power project.
ENE's existing 45 MW Moranbah North power project has been operational since 2008,
using WCMG from Anglo American's existing Moranbah North coal mine.
The decision to further expand the Moranbah North power project, subject to obtaining necessary regulatory permits and approvals, follows the recent 25 year extension of gas supply arrangements with Anglo American including from Anglo American's new Grosvenor metallurgical coal mine, which is currently under construction.
Managing Director Greg Pritchard said today, "Expanding ENE's existing Moranbah North Power Project confirms ENE's ongoing commitment to growing our power infrastructure portfolio, and highlights the value and ongoing growth opportunities embedded in the Company's long term commercial relationships with our blue chip customer base."

Bowen Basin Network Support Agreement with Powerlink

ENE is also pleased to announce a new Network Support Agreement (NSA) with Powerlink Queensland (Powerlink) positioning ENE to provide electricity network support services to Powerlink in the Bowen Basin area.
The NSA will operate over a two year period ending 2016, and is subject to a number of conditions for ENE to progress, including the development of the expanded Moranbah North power project and another new WCMG power generation project with an existing miner in the Bowen Basin in Queensland within agreed time frames.
Managing Director Greg Pritchard said, "The NSA demonstrates the value of clean, embedded WCMG power generation in providing Powerlink with an economical solution to delivering electricity transmission services to the growing mining communities in the Bowen Basin."
"Embedded WCMG power generation is located close to the source of power demand, where it can assist network providers to avoid or defer the cost of network infrastructure upgrades, such as poles and wires, to meet power demand," Mr Pritchard said.
ENE's NSA proposal to deliver new WCMG generation in the Bowen Basin to supply network support services was assessed under the Australian Energy Regulator's Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission. The test involved a public cost benefit analysis of power supply options in the region.
