EPE Special Opportunities plc has announced the appointment of Heather Bestwick as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect. Heather Bestwick has been a financial services professional for 25 years, onshore in the City of London and offshore in the Cayman Islands and Jersey. She specialies in ship finance, with City firm Norton Rose, and worked in their London and Athens offices for 8 years. Heather joined global offshore law firm Walkers in the Cayman Islands, and became Managing Partner of the Walkers Jersey office in 2007. She joined Jersey Finance in 2010 as Technical Director and Deputy Chief Executive, leading the development of finance industry legislation on behalf of industry (including the introduction of the Jersey Private Placement Fund and the AIFMD compliant regime; overseeing the amendments to the Companies and Trusts Laws) and liaising with the regulator and government. Heather also sat on the committees of the industry trade bodies (JFA, JBA, JATCO, JSCCA and the Financial and Commercial sub-committee of the Law Society) and is a founding member of Jersey Maritime International. Heather is now an independent non-executive director, and is registered with the Jersey Financial Services Commission. She is a member of the Channel Islands committee of the Association of Investment Companies.
