Ependion announced that its business entity Westermo is set to deliver substation connectivity from its Irish subsidiary for a major European Electricity Operator, having secured a strategic long term framework agreement via a system integrator. The initial order of approximately SEK 28 million corresponds to less than a third of the potential volume of Merlin routers covered by the framework agreement. Westermo will supply robust Merlin series cellular routers along with implementation and commissioning software and the solution will be used for applications such as connectivity and control, Smart Grid and IoT.

Rollout will take place over a three-year period expected to begin in 2024. There is potential for extension: the customer's goal is to have tens of thousands of active control and data acquisition units in a national power grid within a five-year period.
