Public safety communication is vital to all local communities. At APCO 2021, Everbridge featured new products and advanced functionality of our Critical Event Management platform to showcase our ability to keep towns, cities, states, and other public agencies running, faster. Our partnership with RapidSOS and the corresponding showcase of Everbridge 911 Connect is one solution that organizations can use to better serve the public.

Using Technology to Accelerate Emergency Response and Improve Efficiency

Everbridge 911 Connect provides public safety alerting authorities and ECC dispatchers with life-saving incident-specific information about the caller that they are not receiving today (ex. name, device location/contact address, additional information such as special needs, medical condition, photos, etc.) to accelerate emergency response and improve its efficiency.

APCO attendees expressed much enthusiasm around the product, along with questions to better understand how it works and how it can accelerate response times and improve efficiency. Here are some of the common questions from APCO attendees:

Q. Where does Everbridge get the data that enhances the national life safety database? Where do we get the data and how do we verify accuracy?

A. Everbridge Resident Connection - is a unique national life safety database of over of 250 million contacts covering >80% of the US households and >90% of the US businesses. Everbridge has partnered with best-in-class providers of validated and accurate consumer and business data to support this effort. This is the same data provider that verifies the same database for the United States Census Bureau.

Q. How does Everbridge get and integrate functional needs information?

A. Everbridge 911 Connect will deliver (if populated on device) functional needs information back to the ECC at the time the call is made by that device. This is currently supported thru our RapidSOS Ready integration, or via our Everbridge organizational opt-In integration.

Q. Does Everbridge 911 Connect house any HIPAA information?

A. Any information obtained by residents is furnished on a voluntary basis by the resident. Everbridge does not mandate information to be collected. Due to the information being voluntarily entered into the system by a resident, there is no HIPPA violation as the information was voluntarily provided.

Q. Is Everbridge 911 Connect integrated directly into dispatch systems or are there manual steps to populate information on screen?

A. Everbridge 911 Connect, a RapidSOS Ready solution, provides public safety alerting authorities and ECC dispatchers with life-saving incident-specific information about the caller that they are not receiving today (ex. name, location, static home address, additional information such as special needs, medical condition, photos, etc.) to accelerate emergency response and improve its efficiency. Should an incident evolve and impact more people, authorities have the ability to send mass notifications to a targeted area from one integrated critical event management platform. Everbridge 911 Connect-licensed customers will have access to secure API's that can be integrated into CAD platforms for automated data requests. Everbridge 911 Connect licensed customers will also be integrated into the RapidSOS Jurisdictional Viewer to submit 911 caller phone number profile requests from the Everbridge enhanced data eco-system.
