BOSTON (April 25, 2022)
- As part of its ongoing commitment to provide energy- and money- saving resources for customers across the commonwealth, Eversource today announced it will bring its successful Main Streets program to at least 45 Massachusetts communities in 2022. Through Main Streets, the energy company partners with municipalities to connect local small business owners with approved contractors who provide no-cost energy assessments and can discuss energy efficiency upgrades that can save businesses energy and money.

"Over the last several years, we've had great success bringing Main Streets to our communities and helping thousands of local small businesses implement energy efficiency solutions that help them save money, reduce their energy use and gain a competitive edge," said Eversource Vice President for Energy Efficiency and Electric Mobility Tilak Subrahmanian. "As businesses continue to evolve following the uncertainty of the last two years, we're excited to bring Main Streets to nearly 50 communities across the commonwealth this year to connect businesses with these resources that can be vital to their survival."

In 2021, approximately 1,200 small businesses across 34 Massachusetts communities took part in the Main Streets energy efficiency program, which resulted in approximately 16 million kWh in electric energy savings - or the equivalent to taking 2,443 cars off the road for a year - as well as nearly 129,000 therms in natural gas savings across the commonwealth. This year, Eversource will look to continue building on that success with partnerships across more communities as energy efficiency continues to play a critical role in supporting the commonwealth's decarbonization goals.

The Main Streets energy efficiency program begins with a no-cost, no-obligation energy assessment identifying energy-saving opportunities for small businesses, such as new lighting, occupancy sensors, programmable thermostats, refrigeration controls, insulation and more. Some improvements, like installing aerators and spray valves, happen on the spot at no cost to the customer. More involved projects, like HVAC equipment upgrades or the installation of energy-efficient motor controls, are scheduled for a future date. Eversource has increased incentives for a range of energy-efficiency improvements to further offset the cost of upgrades, and interest-free financing is available for any remaining costs.

Local, licensed electricians contracted by Eversource will complete approved projects and ensure minimal disruption to daily business operations, and all high-efficiency products installed as part of the program will include warranties for both materials and labor. To schedule a no-cost, no-obligation assessment for your business, please complete this registration.
