For 30 years, FDK has been manufacturing and selling rechargeable nickel metal-hydride batteries for various applications, including household electric appliance, security, medical and in-vehicle applications. Nickel metal-hydride batteries have the following features; usable in a wide range of temperatures, environmentally friendly as they can be recharged and used repeatedly, high recyclability because used nickel metal hydride batteries are separated, refined and reused for nickel, cobalt, etc., and high safety (electrolyte is water-soluble).

In recent years, there has been growing needs for wider temperature range in in-vehicle applications that require power backup or main power supply operation.
In order to meet the needs that can be used in a wider range of temperatures, FDK has successfully developed the 'HR-AAUTEW' nickel metal-hydride battery. In order to improve discharge performance in lower temperature environments, FDK has thoroughly reviewed the materials use and structures based on the existing 'HR-AAULT' nickel metal-hydride battery. As a result, the temperature range has been expanded from -20°C to +85°C to -40°C to +85°C (*1), and can discharge 1A at -40℃, equivalent to 1It (*2).

Mass production of the 'HR-AAUTEW' will begin in July 2021 as part of the product lineup of high durability nickel metal-hydride batteries. This product is made in Takasaki plant (Takasaki, Gunma) where is IATF 16949 certified. This product complies with environmental laws and regulations such as RoHS and Battery Directive (2006/66/EC).

FDK, as a Smart Energy Partner, will continue proposing the efficient use of electric energy with safely and efficiently by assembling advanced technologies.
