Ferro Corporation's (NYSE:FOE) Inorganic Specialties Group launched two innovative porcelain enamel coatings for numerous appliance and housewares applications at the International Home & Housewares Show, March 11?13 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL.

RealEase? porcelain enamel hybrid nonstick coatings make it easier to keep things clean ? in the kitchen and in the environment. RealEase is easy to clean with three times the scratch resistance of conventional nonstick coatings, and meets 2010 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations. Already commercially available in Europe, RealEase made its global debut at the show.

RealEase resists scratching with metal utensils at cooking temperatures and is dishwasher safe. Its color and nonstick properties won't degrade with the heat of cooking or baking. RealEase is NSF-certified for food contact according to U.S. Food and Drug Administration guidelines. Tough enough for commercial-grade cookware and bakeware, it is ideal for adding nonstick cleanability to toaster ovens, microwave ovens, griddles, simmer plates, smokers, and grills. Manufacturers can differentiate their products and add consumer appeal with RealEase's broad range of color possibilities, which includes sparkle effects.

New AquaRealEase? patented porcelain enamel coatings enable innovative energy-efficient self-cleaning ovens that really do the cleaning work. In a low-temperature oven lined with AquaRealEase, tough soils like baked-on strawberry pie spills wipe clean with a damp cloth after soaking or exposure to steam from water heated at just 190° F for one hour. AquaRealEase reduces energy usage and eliminates odor from incineration or oven cleaners. It also eliminates the need for an expensive self-cleaning system that operates at temperatures of 1000° F, and can save manufacturers the cost of extra insulation and safety interlocks.

Ferro is the world's leading supplier of porcelain enamel, a glass that is bonded to metal (generally carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron or aluminum) at temperatures from 1000°F ? 1600°F. Porcelain enamel has long been used as an ultimate quality, highly durable and sanitary finish on large and small appliances, cookware and grills, sanitary ware, water heaters, building panels, signage, and chemical storage vessels.
