Spain, Greece, Italy and Turkey - these are the most popular destinations at the moment from Zurich Airport for the upcoming summer holiday period. Around 50,000 passengers are expected on peak days, which is roughly half the volume on a peak day in the pre-pandemic summer holiday period.

Good preparation for a trip is still important - as always in the summer holidays. Even if passenger volumes remain lower than usual, there will be some departure peaks during the day when several flights take off within a short time. This, together with additional documentation checks during check-in and before boarding, may result in waiting times. To keep these waiting times to a minimum, it is important that passengers find out about the current rules in their destination country prior to travelling and have the required documents ready during check-in.

Recommendations for passengers

We therefore recommend that passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to departure and that they have already had a test on the day of departure, if required. Hygiene measures such as regular hand washing, keeping a distance and wearing a mask remain in force.

If the airline offers an online, mobile or prior-evening check-in, we recommend making use of this and printing out luggage labels at home. This makes the bag drop process much simpler and faster on the departure day itself. Electronic devices such as laptops, tablets and cameras and all liquids carried in hand baggage must be presented separately at the security checkpoint as usual.
