MELBOURNE- The all-new Ford Escape has achieved a five-star ANCAP safety rating1, with local models of the vehicle scoring well across each of ANCAP Safety's four key areas of assessment. Of particular note was the Escape's Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection system, which achieved close to full marks. ANCAP's safety report on the all-new Escape has been published ahead of its arrival in showrooms nationwide next month, and confirms that the all-new Escape continues to prioritise safety, maintaining the five star rating of the previous model.

Rhianne Robson, ANCAP Director - Communications and Advocacy, commented 'Prioritising not only the protection of its occupants, the active collision avoidance safety systems fitted to all variants of the Ford Escape saw it achieve a high score of 82% for the protection of vulnerable road users. The Escape also scored well in ANCAP's three other key areas of assessment against 2019 criteria with scores of 92% for Adult Occupant Protection, 89% for Child Occupant Protection and 77% for Safety Assist.'
'Close to full points were scored for its ability to detect and avoid or mitigate collisions with pedestrians and cyclists across a range of day-time and night-time scenarios through its standard-fit autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system,' said Robson.

The all-new Ford Escape line-up comprises several variants, offering Australian customers the latest generation design, technology and capability at varying price points and feature levels, reflecting the diversity of customer lifestyles in Australia. The first variant, badged as 'Escape', with accessible style and technology; the second, the sports-focussed 'Escape ST-Line' and the third, the 'Escape Vignale', which crowns the line-up with premium equipment levels and unique style.
Alongside an upcoming virtual test drive hosted on Ford's Facebook page, the 'Escape Desk Drive', and introductory drive away pricing, the ANCAP five-star rating allows Australians to make an informed choice when shopping for their new SUV.
The all-new Ford Escape will be in Ford Australia showrooms from mid-November 2020.
