Ford Otosan reported earnings results for the first quarter of 2016. The company's net profit in the first quarter of 2016 declined by 12.5% year-on-year to TRY 203 million (USD 286.14 million). Operating profit for the quarter reached TRY 237 million, growth of 9.7% year-on-year, on sales of TRY 4.19 billion, up 17.5% year-on-year.

The company sold a total of 93,643 units (up 9.1% year-on-year) during the quarter, consisting of domestic sales of 22,096 units (down 15.8% year-on-year) and exports of 71,547 units (up 20.0% year-on-year). Exports during the first quarter were driven by the Transit Custom van, climbing 18.7% year-on-year to 34,305 units and accounting for around 48% of the company's total exports.

The company forecast that the automaker's light-vehicle sales in the country will fall by 5.4% year-on-year to 112,205 units in 2016.
