TORONTO (AP) _ Franco-Nevada Corp. (FNV) on Wednesday reported third-quarter profit of $153.9 million.

The Toronto-based company said it had net income of 81 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for pretax gains and non-recurring gains, were 80 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 59 cents per share.

The precious metals streaming and royalty company posted revenue of $279.8 million in the period.

Franco-Nevada shares have risen 35% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $139.95, a climb of 45% in the last 12 months.
